A threat to Chidera Ejuke's position

In late August, Nigerian attacker Ejuke began playing for Sevilla after a difficult start to the season. Unfortunately, a hamstring injury sustained during a La Liga match versus Barcelona in mid-October put an end to his career.

Since then, Sevilla has had trouble winning, and the 27-year-old Super Eagles dribbling master has been sidelined. This season, Los Nervionenses have struggled with absences, as other plans have been sidelined for a while besides Ejuke. In December 2024, club great Jesus Navas announced his retirement from football. He was a potential possibility for Sevilla before to his retirement. Dodi Lukebakio was Ejuke's main rival for a spot in the starting eleven after Navas left. The Super Eagles star now has to contend with an additional challenge, though. La Cruceta claims that Sevilla has reached an agreement to acquire Swiss winger Vargas from Augsburg, a team in the German Bundesliga.
