Olivier Giroud put the visitors ahead with two headers from Christian Pulisic and Davide Calabria crosses. Five minutes after halftime, Matteo Politano's spectacular shot into the roof of the goal cut the score in half at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Later, Giacomo Raspadori curled in a fantastic free-kick to tie the game, before Napoli's Natan was sent off late on.
In the final seconds, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia blasted a shot towards goal, but Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan stopped with his legs to deny Napoli victory. Milan is now third in Serie A, three points behind leaders Inter, while Napoli is fourth, four points behind. The game saw many missed opportunities for both sides, Tijjani Reijnders was unlucky not to make it 3-0 to Milan when his shot flew inches over the crossbar.
