Arnau Martinez still has suitors after being strongly linked to a transfer in the summer. The 22-year-old, who had a standout season two years ago, is still a quality right-back who can also play in midfield and the middle of defense. AC Milan will continue to attempt to bolster their backline with Arnau before the January transfer market opens.
The fact that Arnau's contract has a €14 million release clause—which is quite inexpensive for any European powerhouse—does not help the situation. Hugo Rincon (on loan from Athletic Club) and Alejandro Frances are both naturals at right-back, so Michel Sanchez of Girona does have alternatives there. However, they are only one injury away from having fewer alternatives because they are three of only eight defenders on their roster this season, along with Arnau.
