AC Milan's 1-0 victory over Tottenham

Milan jumped out to an early lead at San Siro, not looking like a team who had only won once in their previous eight games. When he responded quickly to score off the rebound of a superb save by Fraser Forster, Diaz handed the hosts a well-earned early lead. There was little indication of Antonio Conte's team rescuing a win in this game, despite the fact that they have a reputation for doing so so far this season. Due to Eric Dier's suspension for receiving a yellow card in the second half, their prospects in the second leg may be harmed.

Spurs' situation might have been much worse, though, as Milan had a chance to end the match in the closing minutes. In rapid succession, defender Malick Thiaw and substitute Charles De Ketelaere both headed wide from close range, giving Conte's team an opportunity to salvage a point in three weeks.
