AC Milan's 1-0 win over Napoli

The lone goal in Wednesday's tense 1-0 first-leg victory against Napoli by Ismael Bennacer handed AC Milan a tenuous edge in their all-Italian Champions League quarterfinal versus Napoli. Five minutes before halftime of a thrilling game in a crowded, noisy, and rainy San Siro, Algerian midfielder Bennacer scored the game-winning goal following an excellent combination between Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao. With the 25-year-old's second goal of the year, Milan defeated Napoli for the second time in less than a week and now has a slim advantage to protect at Stadio Maradona in Naples the following week.

Victor Osimhen should be available for Tuesday's second leg against Napoli, who had Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa sent off in the 74th minute. Without their star scorer, Luciano Spalletti's club failed to capitalise on several opportunities despite having plenty of chances.
