Jayden Addai joined Como from AZ Alkmaar for €14 million at the start of the summer, one of several young signings brought in to strengthen the club for their second Serie A campaign. The Purmerend-born winger has had only fleeting appearances so far, but he is already beginning to justify his fee. That was clear in the weekend’s away clash with Fiorentina, where he scored a brilliant 93rd-minute winner—his first goal in Serie A, just two months after arriving on Lake Como.
Receiving the ball wide on the right, Addai burst past Marin Pongracic before rifling a cross-goal strike beyond David De Gea. For Como, the goal reflected the belief behind his signing. Still only 20, and with just one Eredivisie season behind him, Addai’s raw talent has already impressed both fans and manager Cesc Fabregas.
