Aduriz is ready to replace Costa

Bad news for Spain, or maybe not so much. Turns out that Chelsea striker Diego Costa had to leave the Spain camp with an injury, he won't be featuring in his national team's next World Cup qualifier against Macedonia in Los Carmenes this Friday. But nobody should worry because Julen Lopetegui called Aritz Aduriz to replace him and the Athletic player is coming fresh off a four-goal fest with his club in the Europa League.

Aduriz spoke to the press this Thursday, he said: "After the Euros there has been a change and it is normal to go making plans looking to year ahead. I honestly did not expect [to get picked] or not to, just to work for my team the best I know and from there does not depend on me. I am delighted and extremely grateful to return and happy to be with the best to try to help."

Aduriz is also hoping to get action against England at Wembley Stadium in London, Lopetegui's side will face the Three Lions next week: "For me it is a stadium we have mythologised, a temple in England. Being able to enjoy a game there is a real treat and it is a wonder that we can enjoy it."
