AFCON QUALIFIER: Kenya beat wasteful Black Stars

The Black Stars of Ghana suffered a 1-0 defeat in the hands of the Hamberee Stars of Kenya in the second round of qualifiers for the 2019 Cup of Nations at the Kasarani Stadium.

Ghana's Nicholas Opoku's 39th-minute own goal saw Kenya record a famous win over the Black Stars.

Opoku connected a ball into his own net after a cross from the right.

Despite dominating play all through the game, Kwesi Appiah's boys could not equalize.

The Black Stars defeated Ethiopia in their opening game by 5-0 in the first round of the qualifiers and were expecting to cement their position at the top.

Ghana remains at the top of Group F with 3 points but on a better goal difference over Kenya and Sierra Leone.

For now, the Blackstars await the results of Sierra Leone and Ethiopia which will be played Sunday afternoon to determine their position on the table.

The Black Stars will take on Sierra Leone in their next qualifier in October.
