People may criticize a man like Paco Alcacer, the Barcelona striker had it all at Valencia. Not only was he a home product who had the love and support from all the fans, his game level was going to be enough for him to forge a legend and a fantastic career there. However, when a club such as FC Barcelona approaches you with the real opportunity to actually play alongside one of the best players in football history, you pack your bags and take the leap.
For Alcacer all the criticism from the Valencia press, the fans and his former colleagues doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if he is called a mercenary because his reasons for leaving Valencia for Barcelona had very little to do with money, playing alongside Messi and other amazing players was the main motivation all the way. The striker has been at Barcelona for over 15 days and during this time, he has been able to confirm why he made this life-changing decision.
Talking to the club's website, Alcacer said: "We have never seen anyone like Messi in the history of the game. It is a privilege to be playing alongside him. I could not believe it [when Barcelona wanted to sign me]. Playing for such a big club is the absolute maximum. I am very happy and excited to be here. At first, I could not believe it because it can be very overwhelming when such a big club is interested in signing you. Barcelona are a very demanding club and our objectives are very clear."
