Carlo Ancelotti is closely monitoring several Brazilian players as he prepares his squad for the upcoming World Cup, and Inter Milan left‑back Carlos Augusto has now entered the discussion. The defender is enjoying an excellent season in Italy, displaying tactical versatility that allows him to operate as a traditional full‑back, an advanced wing‑back, or even as part of a three‑man defence. His adaptability and improved performances have strengthened his case, especially after Ancelotti tested him in a handful of national team matches in 2025.

Competition for a place in the Seleção remains fierce, with Alex Sandro, Douglas Santos and Caio Henrique all in contention, yet Carlos Augusto’s attacking output and goal contributions give him a notable edge. With the final squad list due in May, his remaining fixtures with Inter will be decisive. The defender is also negotiating a contract extension beyond 2028, adding further significance to this crucial period.
