With Ligue 1 season underway, the match between AS Monaco and FC Lorient ended in the Merlucciidaes bagging a 1-0 win on Friday, August 13. AS Monaco had it dull so far in the season with a draw against FC Nantes and now a loss by Lorient following its 16th place finish the previous season.
The game though started with balanced gameplay from both sides was taken over by the hosts shortly with an early 1-0 penalty lead in the 31st minute and the lousy second half from Monaco was added benefit. Head coach Niko Kovac’s desperate attempts referring to Wissam Ben Yedder and Aleksandr Golovin’s substitution with newcomers Myron Boadu and Jean Lucas respectively, three further substitutions and 12 shots were also in vain ultimately.
