AS Roma reached agreement with Mats Hummels

Over the course of the summer, there have been a number of high-profile Bundesliga transfer sagas.

Whether it be Alphonso Davies’ reported move to join Real Madrid or Jonathan Tah’s possible exit from Bayer Leverkusen in order to sign for Bayern Munich, it has undoubtedly not been a lacklustre transfer window from a Bundesliga perspective.

However, Hummels’ transfer saga appears to now be the most well-documented.

Many top European sides have attempted to court the German defender this summer, with Brighton & Hove Albion, Bologna, and Real Sociedad coming the closest to securing the 35-year-old’s signature.

Nevertheless, earlier this week, Roma were in pole position to sign the 2014 World Cup winner.

Despite this, as what has become familiar with any Hummels transfer link over the past three months, a deal looked set to collapse.
