Songne opened his account on the day after goalkeeper Ernest Sowah failed to parry away a shot from Prince Acquah on the 39th minute to put the away team in the league. Heart Of Oak playing as the home team had a man sent off in the 58th minute when Robert Sowah was sent off for a second bookable offense after fouling the impressive Songne Yacoube.
Asante Kotoko with the numerical advantage increases their tally after Songne started off a counter-attack and finishing it beautifully for his brace and Kotoko's second to give the Porcupine warriors the advantage going into the second leg.
The reverse fixture would be played at the same venue a week later on the 2nd September 2018.
