Ipswich Town held out for a 2-2 draw, denying Aston Villa the opportunity to tie leaders Liverpool on points with a brace from Liam Delap. In the eighth minute, Delap gave the recently promoted Tractor Boys the lead with a low strike at the near post.
Seven minutes later, Watkins set up Morgan Rogers for the equalizer for Villa, and just after the half-hour mark, the England striker headed in his fourth goal in three games from a cross by Leon Bailey. Ipswich had a few bright spots throughout the first half, but Jack Clarke and Delap both squandered golden opportunities to tie the score before halftime. But the home team was unbeatable, as they took home a share of the spoils thanks to a superb solo run and finish from Delap eighteen minutes from the end.
