Football Insider has received information from sources that Aston Villa has made a loan bid to Kalvin Phillips, a midfielder for Manchester City. The 28-year-old midfielder is demanding a transfer from the Premier League winners, with Everton and other teams showing interest in acquiring him. After failing to make an impression under Pep Guardiola, Phillips is hoping to depart the Etihad permanently this summer, according to a report from Football Insider on July 27.
Although Man City would like to part with Phillips permanently, they would take a loan deal if necessary. Following their successful summer acquisition of Amadou Onana for £50 million from Everton, Villa is now looking for another central midfield player. Phillips has made just 31 appearances for the champions since moving from Leeds United to Manchester City in 2022 for a reported £45 million. Of those games, 14 were as a starter.
