Atalanta defeats Verona in Serie A with four goals from Retegui

Mateo Retegui led Atalanta to a 5-0 thumping of Hellas Verona with four goals. After netting a hat-trick in the first half and his fourth goal after the interval, Italy striker Retegui increased his league-leading total to 20 goals for the season. With 15 goals, Moise Kean of Fiorentina is the second-leading scorer. Ederson made it on the score sheet as well.

Atalanta's overwhelming victory moved them within one point of second-place Inter Milan. Third-place Atalanta is four points behind leader Napoli. Giménez scored Milan’s second goal in a 2-0 victory over Empoli after receiving a pass from Christian Pulisic and putting the ball on his left foot. Rafael Leão's header started the score. Each team had ten players in the end. Empoli's lead lasted just ten minutes as Luca Marianucci received a straight red card after Milan defender Fikayo Tomori was given a second yellow in the 55th minute.
