With Luciano Vietto's door completely shut down, reports from Spain have been saying that the Catalan club has started fishing at Sevilla FC for French forward Kevin Gameiro. Apparently the ongoing negotiations have been very positive and the Andalusian club is keen on completing the transfer. Even the player has apparently agreed to the terms of not being able to play much during the season, even in the most important games.
As we all know, FC Barcelona has what can arguably be considered the best attacking trio in the world, so their choice was either a veteran striker or a really young one to take on the role as the fourth striker inside the club. This role has already been filled by Pedro in the past, but he realized he was hardly going to play and decided to look fortune somewhere else.
But during a crazy Sunday of negotiations, the truth has come to light. It appears that Barcelona's attempt to get Gameiro is purely out of spite for not being able to sign Luciano Vietto, Atletico's main target has been Gameiro since the transfer window was opened. Barcelona found out about this and made an offer for Gameiro just to upset the Colchoneros, but they have counter-attacked with a new offer in which they offer Luciano Vietto as well. This move might take Barcelona on a very nasty turn where they might end up with no strikers at all.
We'll keep on reporting on this as the day goes by, stay tuned.
