Atletico Madrid recaptured third place in La Liga with a 1-0 win against Sevilla on Saturday thanks to Marcos Llorente's second-half goal. Diego Simeone's team is tied for fourth place with Barcelona on 38 points, seven points behind leaders Real Madrid. When Marcos Llorente's cross was blocked, he pounced on Sergio Ramos' rebound to score from close range.

Llorente came close to adding a second goal with a header that struck the crossbar and a shot that was saved by Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic. Atletico, like in their previous encounter, were reduced to ten men in the 70th minute after defender Caglar Soyuncu, who had only been on the field for four minutes, was issued a red card for a foul on Lucas Ocampos. Real Madrid still tops the table with Girona in second both hold 45 points each.
