Austria won 3-2 over the Netherlands on Tuesday thanks to a goal from Marcel Sabitzer, which put them atop Group D of the Euro 2024 competition. Austria came in ahead of the tournament favorites, France, and the Dutch in third place. All three teams made it to the round of 16, but Austria is the tournament's dark horse because to their energetic performance in Berlin.
Donyell Malen gave Austria the lead with an own goal, but Cody Gakpo gave the Netherlands an early second-half equalizer. After Memphis Depay leveled the score again, Romano Schmid's header gave Austria the lead again. The back-and-forth game was finally resolved by a late goal by Sabitzer. Coach Ralf Rangnick of Austria made four changes to the lineup that defeated Poland because defender Gernot Trauner, who scored in that match, was sidelined due to injury.
