Friday's 3-0 victory against Brest gave Auxerre its second victory of the French league season and ended the visitors' recent winning streak. Brest was coming off two wins in a row, one of which was its first-ever Champions League encounter, a 2-1 victory against Sturm Graz.
However, Auxerre managed to avoid a fifth consecutive loss in Ligue 1 and shown some of the form that earned them promotion the previous season despite the torrential rain in central France. After 26 minutes, Elisha Owusu gave the home team the lead with a left-footed shot, and captain Jubal doubled the advantage 11 minutes later from the penalty spot. Fourteen minutes into the second half, Bournemouth loanee Hamed Junior Traorè scored his second goal in as many outings. As a consequence, after six games, both teams have six points.
