On Wednesday evening, according to Gerard Romero on 'Jigantes', Joan Laporta sat down for dinner with Rafa Yuste, Mateu Alemany, Gerard Pique and Arturo Canales. Canales is both Xavi Hernandez's and Pique's agent.
During said meal, the topic of conversation was the possible reduction in wages of the club captains, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique. Jordi Alba's name was not mentioned. This suggests that Barca are studying their options in response to the possibility of La Liga putting obstacles in the way of the Catalan club registering their new signings. Barca want to avoid selling further assests in order to comply with the league's financial fair play rules.
If the captains refuse to reduce their wages, Barca will have to sell another 24.5% of Barca Studios. This will be a deal worth 100 million euros.
