La Liga champions Barcelona defeated Cadiz 2-0 thanks to late goals from Pedri and Ferran Torres. Barcelona was almost defeated by visiting Cadiz while playing at the Olympic Stadium on the city's Montjuic hill while their stadium is being restored and expanded over the next year and a half.
After Getafe held them to a discouraging scoreless draw on the first weekend, Cadiz nearly accomplished the same feat when Ilkay Gundogan deftly set up Pedri for the game-winning goal. In stoppage time, substitute Torres sped through the center and tucked in to add yet another lackluster display. They finally broke through with eight minutes remaining when Gundogan, a former midfielder for Manchester City, dinked a beautiful pass through for Pedri to slide past Ledesma. Darwin Machis nearly evened the score for Cadiz, but he missed the target with a close-range attempt.
