Riqui Puig is not in Xavi's plans. The midfielder from Barcelona got permission to be absent from the start of preseason, although he end up going. Xavi wanted to give him leeway, as he has done with other outgoing players, to resolve his future in the shortest possible time.
The club are worried about the midfielder, due to his contract. His current deal runs until 2023 and when he could leave the club on a free transfer. This could happen in 2022 with Ousmane Dembélé, who is already a free agent and with whom 'los cules' are still negotiating with to convince him to stay.
