Barcelona file fresh UEFA complaint over Champions League refereeing

Barcelona have lodged a second formal complaint with UEFA over the refereeing in their Champions League quarter‑final against Atletico Madrid, arguing that a series of decisions across both legs fell below the standards required. The club claim multiple incidents were wrongly judged, citing Eric Garcia’s red card, a potential penalty involving Marcos Llorente and Dani Olmo, and a clash in which Fermin Lopez was struck by Juan Musso.

They argue these were not isolated mistakes but part of a pattern that affected the tie’s outcome and caused sporting and financial damage. This follows an earlier complaint regarding the first leg, in which Barcelona contested a Pubill handball, Pau Cubarsi’s dismissal and Koke avoiding a second yellow. President Joan Laporta has already voiced frustration, and the club say they remain willing to collaborate with UEFA to ensure a fairer, more rigorous application of the Laws of the Game.
