Barcelona is considering a potential move for Ian Maatsen

As reported by the Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona is considering a potential move for Chelsea's left-back, Ian Maatsen, in the upcoming summer transfer window. This interest arises as they seek a replacement for Marcos Alonso, should he choose not to extend his contract with the club. Maatsen's contract is set to expire next summer, making him an attractive option for Barcelona on a free transfer.

On the other hand, Chelsea is actively pursuing a new long-term contract for Maatsen. However, if he doesn't agree to an extension, the club is prepared to list him for sale during the January transfer window. While Barcelona already has Alejandro Balde as their established left-back, they are looking to enhance their depth in that position and have identified Maatsen as a target, given his impending free agent status in the following summer.
