Barcelona lost to Villarreal 0-2

Villarreal has to better the result Athletic to qualify for Europe. Two goals from Alfonso Pedraza and Moi Gomez helped them achieve the qualification spot. On the other hand, Barcelona put up a little battle after already being assured of the Champions League qualification. Villarreal secured a 2-0 win over Barcelona finishing in the seventh spot in La Liga. 

They made it to the Champions League semi-finals this season where they defeated teams like Bayern Munich and Juventus on their way and entered the final week of the season. In the 40th minute, Pedraza scored the opener with a shot after getting a fine through ball from Dani Parejo. Further, in the 54th minute, Moi Gomez closed the striking home powerfully from a close range. Athletic ended up losing 1-0 to Sevilla to finish in eighth place, four points behind Villarreal.
