FC Barcelona wins helped matters for Atletico Madrid who overtook Real Sociedad at the top of the La Liga table while Barcelona leapfrogged from eighth place to fifth place and seems to be doing well in the Europa League as well as UEFA Champions League.
Barca can easily climb to fourth place as they are just two points behind Villarreal if they win their next encounter as well while Atletico Madrid could easily loose their top spot as La Real and Los Blancos both display 26 points but Atletico is superior in goal difference but has played just 11 games.
Real Sociedad did manage to take an early lead with Willian Jose scoring in the 27th minute while Barcelona made a comeback to score twice with Jordi Alba and Frenkie de Jong. Though initially, the match would have headed to a draw when de Jong’s goal was declared offside until VAR decided otherwise.
