Florian Wirtz’s difficult start at Liverpool is prompting renewed speculation over Bayern Munich’s long‑standing admiration for the midfielder. The 23‑year‑old, who rejected Bayern in 2025 to join Liverpool for £116 million, has yet to find rhythm under new head coach Andoni Iraola. His subdued performance against Fulham added to concerns, with only one assist and no goals from his first five appearances.
Despite last year’s setback, Bayern have maintained their interest and would monitor any opportunity should Wirtz become available at season’s end. The club had pushed aggressively for his signature in 2025, confident they could lure him to Munich before he chose Anfield, influenced heavily by Arne Slot’s vision.
