Back in the 70's when Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Muller were the world's best players, Bayern Munich made a wise choice and never listened to offers from other clubs regardless of how great they were. In today's globalized world, any major club that wanted a player they had could get the opportunity to buy him. The German giants completely gave up to money and ended up selling key players such as Bastian Schweinsteiger and Toni Kroos.
But when you look at Thomas Muller, you immediately realize that you are talking about arguably the most valuable German player they have. That's why board member Edmund Stoiber has revealed that they won't make the same mistakes they did in the past, Muller is not for sale as he told Bild: "It should not be happening that someone like Thomas Muller plays for Manchester United.
"The fans were already a bit unhappy when Schweinsteiger left us for Manchester United. But he was already 32 and wanted a new challenge. But our fans and members would never forgive us if we sold Muller. He is the opposite of someone like Cristiano Ronaldo. He is much more than just a great player. Muller is part of our DNA. He represents key values for us and is someone the fans love."
