Getting high praise from legends is something Barcelona have been getting used to in the past decade or so, but getting high praise from a direct rival in Europe has a double taste of victory for every fan and player. German legend Franz Beckenbauer is the last on to point out Barcelona's virtues and he did it in style while placing them on the next Champions League final to be played in Milan against Bayern Munich.
During an ambassadorial role for the Football and Friendship project, the German legend confessed that he is rooting for Barcelona to reach the final against Bayern Munich but he wants them to lose against his beloved team: “The way they [Barcelona] play football is very unique and entertaining, I certainly consider myself a Barcelona fan. The reason for their success has a name: Leo Messi. He is simply the best. I wish I can see Messi and his Barcelona play in Milan in the final against Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich will win 5-4 on penalties in the end though!”
But for this to happen Barcelona first need to defeat Atletico Madrid at Vicente Calderon stadium next week after the 2-1 lead they got this Tuesday at Camp Nou, and Bayern Munich need to keep the lead against Benfica at Stadiu da Luz in Lisbon, also next week. Then they would have to avoid each other in the semifinals in order to reach the final, but for that there is still a lot of road to cover in this year's most exciting club tournament in the world.
