Let's face it, German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger's better years are far behind him, his move to Manchester United was more of a wink from manager Louis Van Gaal than an actual power move to shake the team. Actually, since he arrived in the Red Devils, Schweinsteiger hasn't played most of the games with the club as he's been injured for the better part of the season. Bastian has only been recovered in time for the Euros, during this summer camp beforethe tournament he has made improvements that are well regarded amongthe German legends.
One of those legends is Franz Beckenbauer, who has been following his recovery closely. The former Bayern player wrote in a column in Bild: "Bastian has surprised me. He was stronger than expected in his 24 minutes against Hungary. He showed great joy of playing and also spiritual motivation. We all know how strong his will can be. We all remember his bloody face in the last minutes of World Cup final. This we will see again. Why? Because he is away from the problems at Manchester. I guess he is feeling really comfortable in the Germany squad."
With Jose Mourinho's arrival to the Red Devils, it's still uncertain if Schweinsteiger will count for the manager or if he won't need his services. Bastian has only one chance to convince Mourinho that he's the man for the position as defensive midfielder this summer at the Euros. But Beckenbauer would prefer is he would seek fortune in a new club where there isn't so much drama, because we know how much Jose Mourinho likes the drama.
