Benfica defeated Atletico Madrid 4-0

Benfica defeated Atletico Madrid 4-0 on Wednesday in the Champions League, capping their winning run in the competition at two games. They did this with an outstanding performance.

Kerem Akturkoglu, Angel Di Maria, Alexander Bah, and Orkun Kokcu all scored goals as Bruno Lage's team destroyed the shell-shocked Atleti squad in Lisbon. After Atletico's defense erred, Akturkoglu scored Benfica's first goal in the 13th minute after grabbing an unmarked pass from Fredrik Aursnes in the area. Vangelis Pavildis then squandered a great opportunity to extend Benfica's lead in first-half stoppage time. But after Conor Gallagher fouled Pavildis in the 50th minute, the home team had another opportunity to take a 2-0 lead from the penalty spot, and the legendary Di Maria of Argentina made no mistake when facing Jan Oblak from 12 yards out.
