In a time when West Ham United is not doing so well in the Premier League, they truly believed they were going to compete to at least finish in the top four this season but the insanely competitive side on top have given them very little room to maneuver. This has sparked an urge to sign players in the winter transfer window, the local press is promoting names left and right. They are even talking about bringing veteran Patrice Evra back to English football.
But manager Slaven Bilic doesn't like the idea so much, as he said: "We are the club linked with the most players in Europe. Every player who is available, there's always West Ham. But 95 percent of that is not true. Definitely not true with Evra. Okay, he's a great player, but in that position we're well covered."
A player he does like, is veteran Jermain Defoe: "He's a very good player, with the way he's scoring goals for Sunderland. He's always been spot on, top. I have a few midfielders who tell me he's the best from the strikers they've played with. But he's a Sunderland player. We want players who have experience of the Premier League. We're not going to panic but we'll try to get a couple of players in."
