In the Derby dell'Appennino, Riccardo Orsolini netted his fifth goal of the year. Five minutes into stoppage time, Jens Odgaard completed the victory, propelling Bologna to fifth place, equal on points with fourth-place Atalanta. Fiorentina held the seventh spot.
Due to Fiorentina's trip to Saudi Arabia to compete in the four-team Italian Super Cup, the game was postponed from last month. Napoli defeated Fiorentina 3-0 in the semifinals. After gliding past a defender and rolling in a shot, Orsolini scored early on. However, a second goal was disallowed due to a VAR check for offside. In the closing minutes, Odgaard turned in a cross to become the first player for Bologna in the top level to score in both of his first two games since Roberto Baggio in 1997–98. On loan from AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands, Odgaard also netted the game-winning goal in Bologna's 4-0 victory against Lecce on Sunday.
