Gregor Kobel did a fantastic job between the pole, fending off attacks from Bayer Leverkusen’s players to keep the sheet clean. Borussia Dortmund’s captain Marco Reus got the winner as the team started off their Bundesliga campaign on a strong note at Westfalenstadion. Dortmund had a moment of worry as they saw Adeyemi their brightest star on the field, leave the match in 23 minutes with a suspected ankle injury.
While hosts could not take advantage of the chances they created inside the six-yard box, they failed to make an impact. The match ended dramatically with Leverkusen goalkeeper Hradecky being sent off in the stoppage time and Reus failed to make the free kick count as it flew over the bar.
