Borussia Dortmund held back at Cologne

Borussia Dortmund was held back by a 1-1 draw at Cologne on Sunday while Erling Haaland came back to the lineup after two months, only to take part in a disappointing draw while leaving Bayern Munich six points clear in the Bundesliga. Second-set Dortmund had lost ground in the title race with seven games left, while Bayern is flying high after the 4-0 whipping of Union Berlin on Saturday with Robert Lewandowski’s brace.

Haaland’s comeback marked an end to the longest 21-year-old Norwegian goal drought since January 2020 while playing for Dortmund. Dortmund started to lead the pack after only eight minutes when Marius Wolf gobbled up a Jude Bellingham pass and scored his second goal in as many games. But Cologne was level by half-time after Anthony Modeste's flick was tapped in at the far past by his forward accomplice Sebastian Andersson.
