Braga have dismissed head coach Carlos Vicens following their 2-1 home defeat against Gil Vicente, bringing an end to the Spaniard’s first spell in senior management. The decision comes after three consecutive losses that have intensified pressure on the Portuguese club.
Before the latest setback, Braga suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Copenhagen in the Conference League and lost 3-1 to Sporting Lisbon in domestic competition. They have recorded just one victory in their last six matches, prompting mounting concerns over the team’s form.
Vicens joined Braga in summer 2025 after eight years working alongside Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. During his tenure, he recorded 41 wins, 19 draws and 16 defeats across 76 competitive fixtures. His coaching staff have also departed, with the club thanking them for their contributions.
Franclim Carvalho is reportedly among the leading candidates to take over. The 39-year-old previously worked at Braga as a youth coach and assistant to Artur Jorge before leaving for Botafogo.
