It’s happened 74 years after their last game in England's first division, Brentford beats Arsenal 2-0 in its opening match of the Premier League season. The 16,500 fans at the Community Stadium were witnesses to the historic win and a perfect start to yet another intriguing season
The game started off the first top-flight campaign for the Bees with Sergi Canos and Christian Noergaard showing off in the respective 22nd and 73rd minute against Arsenal’s who could not keep up England's top division 1-0 win over the former, in May 1947. While the winning side enjoys the top spot for the weekend, Mikel Arteta’s squad was a disappointment following the eighth finish last season. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette had the Gunners' defensive shortcomings evident and Folarin Balogun replaced Bukayo Saka was also not enough for the team’s win. Ethan Pinnock and Mads Bech Sorensen were other notable contributors to Brentford’s victory.
