In a very complicated match against Juventus, AC Milan surprised everyone with a highly competitive final that pushed Juventus to the very limit. They managed to take the game into over time and until the second part of it, Spaniard Alvaro Morata had to come in and decide the outcome of the match with a solo goal after a Juan Cuadrado assist. But the real props have to go to Cristian Brocchi's side, for being able to counter part the opposition lead by Paul Pogba and Paulo Dybala.
This performance fills the Rossoneri with hope that they can do a better next season, it's still unclear if Silvio Berlusconi will end up selling the team to the highest bidder this summer. If he does, the team will very likely enter a period of transition that will see a lot of people leaving the club and making changes to the staff. But for now, manager Cristian Brocchi can dream of starting next season from scratch and taking decisions from the very start.
Talking to Milan Channel, Brocchi said: "I saw for the first time my hand in this team tonight. I have worked intensely in these past few days. For the first time I saw my team do what I asked of them. I think we showed what we're capable of tonight, but unfortunately we go away with a defeat which we did not deserve. I am certain that if we had played like this in other games that our season would have turned out differently.
"I have worked really hard to create this spirit and for this reason I am disappointed because I believed we could win and I am sad that we could not make the fans happy. I saw the right approach and I think we were the only side to really frustrate Juve this season. We have to work hard every week and every game, just like we have done this week."
