Burnley faces relegation in Premier League

The Clarets kickstarted their match needing to match Leeds’ result at Brentford but couldn't succeed. Callum Wilson gave the first shot from the penalty spot after an inexplicable Nathan Collins handball. Later in the 69th minute, Maxwel Cornet’s strike sparked a late fightback which wasn't enough as Leeds’ win condemned Burnley to the drop. Jackson, who replaced Sean Dyche last month, had made Burnley favorites to avoid the drop, taking 11 points from seven games prior to this, but could not clear the final stage.

After the match, Jackson said that the defeat won’t go away for a long, long time. In fact, it won’t. It will always be there. It’s something they will all have to live with that won’t go away. Having put themselves within touching distance of safety, Burnley wilted under the pressure on the final day as they seemed rushed and panicked in their game.
