Cagliari defeated Hellas Verona 1-0

Cagliari won their third game of the season on Friday night, defeating Hellas Verona 1-0 thanks to a goal from Roberto Piccoli. This move puts them over Roma and temporarily into 12th position in the Serie A rankings. Both teams had only won one of their previous five Serie A games, and there was just a single point separating them prior to kickoff.

With 65% possession of the ball at the conclusion of the game and 14 shots during the 90, three of which were on goal, Cagliari had the most of the possession that evening.  However, the deadlock wasn't broken until the last quarter of an hour. In the last third, Piccoli converted a low ball that Felici had delivered from the byline. The hosts were able to hold onto the advantage for the rest of the match thanks to a single goal. With 12 points from 14 games, Verona is still in 16th place and, close to the relegation zone.
