Fabio Capello is well known for his career as both a player and a manager, but it was as a manager where he has really excelled to the top of the game. He has managed some of the best teams in history and gotten amazing results everywhere he trained. On a club level, he has gotten his most successful seasons with AC Milan and Real Madrid, he has won titles in every single club he has managed, even during his time at AS Roma.
Throughout his career, Capello has earned the recognition of being a tough manager with all his players. Demanding the very best from every single one of them regardless of how famous they are, this rough character has triggered comparisons with Argentine manager Diego Simeone, who has the same kind of approach with his players and manages to motivate them in a similar way Capello did. The Italian manager granted an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport and talked about Simeone's ways.
Talking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello praised Simeone for what he's done with Atletico so far: "He is always able to transmit three ideas into his side: determination, sacrifice and humility. Everyone runs and fights together in order to earn a result. Simeone studies his rivals and tries to find the best way to line up against them. The fact he worries about what is in front of him is a sign of humility and intelligence. There is a lot of work that goes on at Atletico. The work they do on set-pieces is meticulous, along with the strategy to attack the ball carrier on the other team. Simeone is smart and so is his football."
The manager also praised Leicester City and fellow compatriot Claudio Ranieri, who is on the brink of making the team Premier League champions for the first time in their history: "Atletico have more quality, but Leicester have surprised me thanks to their desire to win and the way they push to achieve their goals. [Ranieri] has been immense. He is pulling off a masterpiece. I'm happy for him as he is a prepared coach and a good person. He's always kept a low profile and respected his colleagues."
