Augusto has generated a good deal of transfer interest throughout the summer. This may not come as a surprise given the strong debut season he had with Monza in Serie A. In six goals for the Brianzoli, Augusto has also provided five assists. Therefore, Inter was not the only one interested in acquiring the Monza wingback.
According to reports, Atalanta, Juventus, and Fiorentina have all expressed interest. Furthermore, the Bianconeri in particular may have posed a serious threat to Augusto's signature. They could have offered him a sports opportunity at a prominent club and at least as much money in compensation as Inter might have. Tuttosport, however, claims that Augusto was always crystal clear about what he intended. On a tactical level, Inter did make sense as a destination for Augusto.
