The new tactician turns 44 later this month and it is his first major management role after being Coach of the Spain Under-16, Under-17 and Under-21 sides.
He had been working on the Real Madrid staff from August-October 2018 with Julen Lopetegui.
The shock decision was made to sack Marcelino after two years in charge at the Mestalla, despite winning the Copa del Rey.
“Valencia CF have come to an agreement for the appointment of Albert Celades as first team coach, through to June 30th 2021. The new Coach will oversee his first training session on Wednesday afternoon,” read a statement.
