Celta Vigo defeated Valencia 3-1

Celta Vigo defeated Valencia 3-1 on Friday to honor the club's 101st anniversary of establishment and to win their second consecutive league game to begin the season. The Galician team defeated Valencia for the second time in a row and won its opening two games of the season for the first time since 2015.

Iago Aspas, the captain of Celta and their star striker, was once again at the center of everything. Just before halfway, he scored for the second straight game but missed a penalty. After a goalmouth scramble, Diego Lopez gave Valencia the lead after 14 minutes with a close-range goal. However, Oscar Mingueza's volley to finish a nice team effort gave Celta the equalizer midway through the first half. Aspas' penalty kick was subsequently saved by Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili in first-half injury time, but Fran Beltrán added the third goal on the hour mark with a brilliant shot from the edge of the penalty box.
