Cicinho reveals problems with alcohol

It's weird when one finds out about problems that football players have with vices and other issues. One looks at a professional athlete and can only see the image that the media wants to portray of them, but in real life they are just as flawed and disturbed as many of are. In football there are stories of players who were really good with the ball at their feet, but were in trouble when the time came to spend time with friends and relax.

People like Paul Gasgoine who is currently on the deep end and can be spotted in England every other day completely wasted, or the sad story about Brazilian winger Garrincha who died of cirrhosis for too much drinking. Well today we found out about a new former player who's had these problems and is really struggling to get past them. Brazilian Cicinho who played for Real Madrid opened up about his private life.

Talking to ESPN Brasil, Cicinho revealed his problems with Alcohol: "I'm a guy who can't sit and have one or two glasses. I have to drink until I fall over. They said to me: 'if you keep going with this life, you will die'. And I had an encounter with Jesus after 18 caipirinhas and 14 'long necks' [of beer]."

He also criticized the Brazilian national team for dropping their level to a really mediocre point: "These days, we're all concerned with selfies, with hair and all these things. There's style all right, but the Brazilian team needs more attitude. You see players asking not to play in the Copa America. That shouldn't be!"
