Cillessen believed Barcelona's interest was a joke

There is a saying that goes like this: "Ignorance is bliss." This is exactly how Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen must feel after he arrived in FC Barcelona, he has no idea that taking German goalkeeper Ter Stegen's place will be nearly impossible. All the Dutchman cares about is that he just signed a new contract with one of the best clubs in football history, but someone needs to tell him that saying he wants to be the starter is something he will only dream about.

On his first interview with Barça TV, Cillessen said: "At the start, it seemed strange that the best team in the world wanted to sign me, I thought it was a joke. Barça and Ajax are two teams with a comparable style, and this will make the adaptation easier for me. I know this style of play well, I know what Barça expect in a keeper and I will try to do well.

"I don't think I am a typical keeper, I can play with the ball and that is important at Barça. The past days have been somewhat crazy, I was playing for Ajax and within hours I was catching a flight to Barcelona."
