City thrashes Southampton with 5-2

Manchester City got back to winning ways after the Manchester derby put an end to their 21 match winning streak. City but restored its 14-point lead at the top of the table after the setback and came back even stronger and Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side was buried with 5-2. Southampton have now lost 9 of their last 11 matches. Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne both scored twice during the match and Ilkay Gundogan netted his 14th goal of the season to defeat Southampton. Pep Guardiola’s side though may have won the match but their defensive side could use some work.

But Mahrez was a key player during the match and has been ever since he moved from Leicester for £60m in 2019. City though could not hold back Southampton and ended up conceding twice with James Ward-Prowse converting a penalty and Che Adams scoring once as well.
