Antonio Conte has played down rumours of a potential move to Manchester United, denying reports that he has already negotiated financial terms or demanded complete control of the club.
The former Chelsea and Napoli manager issued a statement on Friday, describing claims about his supposed demands as unfounded. He added that he would carefully assess his next career move following his successful spell in Naples, where he won Serie A in 2024-25.
Speculation has intensified after United suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Como, extending their winless streak to seven matches across all competitions. The result has increased scrutiny on Carrick, with the club struggling domestically and in Europe.
Conte said he would consider discussions if a genuine opportunity emerged, but insisted that current reports remain speculation.
Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler, another name linked with the vacancy, also distanced himself from the rumours, expressing respect for Carrick.
