Copenhagen beats Galatasaray 1-0

Even if United had defeated Bayern Munich, Erik ten Hag's struggling squad would not have advanced past the round of 32 in the Champions League thanks to Copenhagen's 1-0 victory against Galatasaray on Tuesday. Copenhagen is now guaranteed a spot in the tournament's knockout round. United needed a draw at Copenhagen and Galatasaray to maintain its ambitions after losing 1-0 to Bayern. United comes in last, while Galatasaray comes in third and will play in the Europa League.

Elias Achouri crossed low for Lerager to score his third Champions League goal of the season in the 58th minute, giving Copenhagen the lead after a tight first half marked by little creativity from either side. The Galatasaray defence took a while to respond. The midfield player was substituted after receiving two yellow cards in a five-minute span. The first was for pushing Baris Alper Yilmaz, and the second was for an awkward tackle.
